Marketing/Business Tips
Every issue of our newsletter will contain business/marketing tips specifically aimed at YOUR own Personal Development. Jye has mentioned to me a number of times that "You must work ON your business not just FOR it" which inspired this segment. As with most marketing/business tips, our tips and advice will apply offline as much as it does online.
Our first set of recommendations My Friend are the most important and in builders terms are the foundations of your business/online ventures. You must clearly define Tip #1 What is YOUR Purpose before you can move onto Tip #2 Goal Setting 101.
- What is YOUR purpose My Friend?
- Goal Setting 101
- Think outside that Square My Friend!
What is YOUR purpose My Friend?
That's right My Friend, I'm asking you, what do you want from your online ventures? Money/Wealth? Success? Power? Everyone is after MONEY. Look outside your window or turn on your TV, there are BILLIONS of people working for money RIGHT NOW!! To make money in the real world, you can clean toilets, wash dishes, build/sell houses, manage corporations, the list is essentially endless...
You need to ask yourself this exact same question My Friend. What is your purpose here on the vast World Wide Web? Are you a toilet cleaner or a CEO? A builder or a plumber? A sales person or a labourer?
How can there be a builder on the Web you say? They're all over the place!! You've probably undergone some owner web-building yourself! That's right, the carpenters/developers of the Internet are the programmers/webmasters. I'm sure you've at least dabbled in a little HTML yourself My Friend!
Well how about a plumber then? Okay, water and electronics definitely don't mix, we all know that. But, the plumbers are the allied fields or specialties. Database management or graphic art for example could be labeled as an allied/specialty IT field.
The fact is My Friend, the Web is still most under-developed. The general name it has for itself (in laymen's terms) so far is the good old email boomer (and spam box), information dissemination (getting your stuff "out there"), perhaps cynical and now finally fading - the XXX porn machine and not to forget the old e-bay/amazon bargain hunter! Go and ask an elderly citizen if they have heard of a Traffic Exchange or a Blog. I guarantee that 99% of them would look at you with no idea about what you're talking about. Yet, they have probably have heard of E-Bay or Google in their general daily living.
There are still generations of evolution and growth to come in this industry. Remember the so called "dot com crash"? There was no crash baby, the Web wasn't even off the ground yet!! Why didn't one of the "experts" predict that such a significant change in our society would take at least 5-10 years to establish trust and a firm foundation? Thinking billions of people across the globe were going to be Net ready in such a short amount of time... Experts hey My Friend?!?!
The "dot com boom" is only just NOW revealing its tentacles, wait until you see how long and thick they are My Friend!!!!
Goal Setting 101
Did you know that you can go to University to study how to effectively set and achieve goals? How do I know? I've personally had to study the technique of setting and achieving Goals at university and so have all of our other staff. What we'll cover here is essentially the entire concept of goals and how they are achieved. We'll also look at how our body is already programmed to be a goal setting and achieving machine!
In a nutshell, there are two types of goals, end or main goals and immediate goals.
The first is your priority main or end goal. Our main goal in life is to survive (something your body instinctively helps you with).
Your goal to survive is achieved by setting immediate goals. An immediate goal is set when your stomach grumbles or lunch-time arrives and you set out on your food mission to refuel your body - what's for lunch Pop? Another immediate goal is set when your bladder is full and you feel the urgency to urinate - where's the toilet Mother dear??
Thankfully, our body and mind are aware of these necessities to survive and help us greatly with the programmatic goal setting (aim) and direction (FIRE!!). The results are always dependant on our direction.
Hmmm. Do I smell a hint of science?? You sure do! Science is the BEST example I can give you to help you achieve your goals.
Aim - it's the goal baby - where are we going?? To the moon?
Direction (scientifically known as the Method) - How and which way are we going to get there??
Results - oh yeah!! What actually happened mate?
Now let's put this into real life!! Our main goal:
Aim - I want a brand spankin' new Mazarati (sports car)
Method - Clean approx. 500,000,000 toilets at 1 cent each
Result - Took me 50 years, but I now have my Mazarati!
Immediate goal to achieve the above:
Aim - to clean 500,000,000 toilets (in order to get my Mazarati!!)
Method - Scrub baby, scrub!
Can you see my point now My Friend?
So what are goals? A goal is simply an Aim. That is, something that you are aiming to acquire or achieve. You might want a new car, a successful job/business, or simply the desire to learn something new. A goal is entirely YOUR choice. My goals differ from your goals and your goals will differ from the person next door to you. That's the beauty of LIFE. You have ALL the power My Friend!
Now, we are not a bunch of dreamers "you're nothing but a dreamer!". Nor are we suggesting that "dreaming" is the key here. It is however, a vital element for your goal setting.
A goal is not a dream. A goal DERIVES from your dreams, remember that!
Don't listen to what some may portray. There are no secrets with success. Success is entirely dependant on how much you really want to achieve your goals, and the DIRECTION you take in attempt to achieve your goals. DIRECTION My Friend, that choice is entirely YOURS too!! Yes I know, limitations exist, but they're only hurdles, not cages!
Many tell you to write down your goals because most have difficulties in keeping sight of their end goal. If this is you My Friend, then write your goals down! Read them at least ten times per day. After a week or two, I'm sure you'll start to memorise some of them! My point is My Friend, goals on paper are just words, so are the "voices/emotions/pictures" in your mind.
What you can try if you'd like or haven't already My Friend (and this is why people suggest to write down your goals), is live and breathe your goals. Want to achieve them so much that your mind starts believing that you will achieve them. There is a significant difference between Want (A Dreamer) and Belief (the ones most likely to be the Do'er).
Picture yourself to the finest detail doing whatever you'd be doing when you finally get there, how you'll manage yourself and the tasks at hand to keep the money rolling-in or keep yourself in/utilising that position or knowledge. Trust me My Friend it not only works, it's powerful!
Aim for the stars My Friend and if you fall, you could land on the tree tops (higher/better off than before!).
Now don't over-kill and become obsessive compulsive about it all. As with everything in life, moderation is the Key. My point is AGAIN My Friend, goals on paper are just words, so is "everything" stirring-around inside your head. You need your MIND to BELIEVE that you will achieve. By believing, you are convincing your mind that it will happen (just like going to the Loo - toilet for you non-Aussies!). And trust me My Friend, if you want something to happen that much, it will happen! It may not be exactly as you picture it, but there's a high chance it will not be that far off either!
When was the last time that you KNEW that you weren't going to make it to the toilet? Quite some time ago I hope! But you should know what I mean My Friend, when you know failure is destined, failure is highly likely to BE destined.
Ahhhhh the power of the mind. The most MISS-understood part of our life. And will remain so My Friend, for the rest of our time here. It will most likely remain that way for many generations to come.
Direction My Friend. It is direction that makes you get out of bed each and every single day. The first Direction for most of us is usually the toilet or food... You need firm direction My Friend, or where do you think you're going to go? Around in circles is where my money would be if it were a gambling matter!
How many times have you gone without food for an entire day (24 hours)? Now presuming that you're not in a 3rd world country and have the money to buy the bare essentials, I'm sure you eat at least once per day, right? Your mind directs you to food and your next thought is not usually how to get, but WHAT to get. And think of when you must go to the toilet, your direction is CLEAR when urgency takes control and you always get it done in the end right?!?!
Let's Finish-up and Briefly Revise
So My Friend, if you haven't already decided, what area of the WWW do you think would suit you? Your field not Web friendly yet possibly? Well, make it Web friendly, you are the future! Perhaps your interest area is seemingly exhausted. Try researching the field and find its flaws/lack in functionality. Fix/implement them and your off to a great start.
What about if you're completely new to all this "Net Marketing", "Traffic Exchange" jargon? Don't worry, I have not forgotten the days My Friend. My advise here is stick to your interests. Don't follow the crowd, pursue what you enjoy, or what is the point of it all? To make money? Like I said, you can do that cleaning toilets if you want!
Goal setting/achieving is a simple process that the mind undertakes sub-consciously or automatically when it relates to our survival. We have covered a very simple example of how we set main goals and the immediate goals to help achieve our end goal. Simple things like eating and going to the toilet require very little planning and effort as your body already alerts and prepares you when you must take action. Without this physiology (body functionality), you would find it much more difficult or even perhaps impossible to survive.
Goal setting for need or desire is no different. If you use the same methodology your body uses, achieving your goals can become as natural to you as going to the toilet!
And the all important direction or method. It is the method you follow that will define your path to success or failure. That Direction is entirely YOUR choice. Direction is however (at times) difficult to initiate, control and maintain. If ONLY the one path existed for every goal in life, what a boring world we would be living in!
This now gives raise to the question:
How do I achieve my goals?
Trust me My Friend, this question is where MOST come un-stuck. Unfortunately there is no definitive answer here and if you're looking for someone to give you the exact answer, it will be very hard/near impossible to find. The easiest method is to break down your main goal into smaller immediate goals that are directing you towards (not away from) your end goal. If you are completely blank and do not know where to start, RESEARCH. You researched how to walk (watched your parents/siblings do it for a year or so and then you were most likely well on your own way). Start the easiest way by looking for others who have already done the same and study how they did it.
So I have to be an Einstein then? No. Far from it. You yourself know what is best for your own good. Maybe not 100% consciously, but your mind and body are a work of art and a complete master-piece that can be trained at YOUR command. You learnt how to walk when you were younger**, am I correct? You've actually learnt how to do everything that you do in life. Why can't you teach yourself how to achieve your desired goals?
You already taught your body and mind how to eat, walk, talk, read, even go to the toilet right?!?!
What's stopping you from learning anything else you desire to know?
Think outside that Square My Friend!
Tune-in next issue for our next set of marketing tips. One of which include thinking outside that square in front of your face My Friend. The Web has billions of people utilising it each day. You can't forget that many billions more haven't even switched on a computer yet!
